The Adelaide Gig Review

Hi Everybody,

Our recent gig at the Adelaide in Newtown, Wellington was a night to remember! Supporting well-known Wairarapa band Tightlipped, we expected to play as a duo as drummer Ben Coralli had other comittments in Palmy that night. It was amazing when Robbie Keating from Tightlipped jumped on the drums and backed us for two sizzling sets. The crowd were very appreciative and obviously enjoyed the material.

Tightlipped were up next with Robbie powering away on bass, drummer Steve Rowe supplying a steady beat and Barry's original vocal style, the band put down solid sets of classic covers and Barry Smith's uptempo originals.

Watch out Wellington we will be returning soon on the "idiosincrazy" tour, which will feature both bands playing mainly original material. Watch this blog for tour dates and venues.

Be there or be nowhere.

Diversity in Wairarapa Music

Hi everybody,

Tonight on Rewind Push Play we featured local songwriters recorded music. Featured artists tonight were: Bob McGuigan, Bill Borman, Barry Smith, David Christopher, Christine Williams, Larry Manson, John Mabey and Barry Saunders.

What a diverse musical community we have in the Wairarapa, from country through to rock, funk, blues and punk. We need a venue to showcase this talent and get local music lovers behind us. Any ideas?

About Us idiosyncrasy
idiosyncrasy was formed in 1989 by DJ Christopher and Christine Williams as an outlet for the original songs they were writing. These songs came out of jams and practices rather than sitting down and deliberately writing them. To date they have penned 236 songs which are all registered with APRA. Christine and David are both members of APRA and AMCOS. They regularly enter songs in APRAs Silver Scroll awards, which is the top songwriting competition in New Zealand, held annually. They continue to write, record and perform and with songs being played on Australian television, gives them the impetus to continue.
