Somewhere South
About Us Somewhere South

I've playing in around the cover/original scene for a number of years now.  During the years I have been very fortunate to have played with a variety of gifted and talented musicians.

In 2003 I was runner up in the York Street Acid songwriting competition.  That same year I was a finalist in the South Auckland battle of the bands.

The band "Somewhere South" has been running for a number of years with various players.  Previous members have been Frank Elia, Alby Matamu, Alexia Jacob, John Beanstead, Mark Baynes, Joe To'omata, Jonno Sawyer, Christmas Ropati, Kyle Smith.  At the moment I've been fortunate enough to be playing with several high profile players in the Auckland scene.

I've come full circle and now am trying to dedicate more time to my original material.  All songs have been written and arranged by myself. I have from time to time utilised outside musicians to complete various projects.  Credit must be given to Christmas Ropati, Joe To'omata and Mark Baynes.  Their contributions to my projects has been priceless.

My influences come from a wide range of different artists within different genres.  I like to think that my songs are honest with their lyrics and simple in melody.  It is my hope that my music reachers an audience that can appreciate the above.

To all other musicians out there who like myself are just trying to get out there, keep on keeping and all the best.

 Cheers.

Influences:
Counting Crows, Stevie Ray Vaughn, all sorts.
